About the Artist :
Best known for his paintings of the sea and the Irish coastline , Patrick has had twenty-two solo exhibitions to date , with his work being exhibited in Ireland , the U.K. , and The United States .
About the artwork :
"The sea is an ongoing source of inspiration for paintings I create , and the places where land meets sea is also a recurring theme and motif in my artwork .
The coast , and the structures which are located there , relate to the individual on many levels : as places experienced directly, yet also as places which exist in the human mind somewhat autonomously , as memory , or also on an imaginative and perhaps a metaphorical level as well .
Every painting evolves differently : some become quite descriptive of a place as it is , while others develop in a more atmospheric or evocative direction , recreating the sense or experience of being by the sea , or the mood or atmosphere of a particular time of day , or the weather as it constantly changes" .
